Cancer has taken the lives of too many of our alpacas friends and families. National Daffodil Day is one of the Cancer Council's major fundraising days and this year is on Friday 25th August 2017, during the Australian Alpaca Spectacular.
At Colourbration last year we held an 'I WILL WEAR RED TO HELP FIGHT CANCER' fundraiser event to honour the victims, acknowledge the survivors and support those still battling the disease. The plan was to ditch our white coats on Friday to raise funds and awareness. Long sleeve red t-shirts were sold with entries and $20 from each shirt donated to the Victorian Cancer Council. 80 t-shirts were sold raising $1600 plus a number were donated back and sold again!!! So, thanks to the exhibitors and a couple of personal donations, the total raised was well over our target of $2,000. The support for the idea was so great that we decided to wear the red shirts for the entire show!!!
This year we are selling a more demure, some would say more flattering black t-shirt with a big orange S for Spectacular, and this will be the required show ring attire. Order a bigger size if you want to wear something warm underneath, and you also have the option to order a fleecy lined AAA vest to wear on top. You need to pre-order these with your entries and the sizing details are below, and also on the EXHIBITOR INFORMATION page. If you don't want to buy extra t-shirts you just need to wear something black under your AAA vest. Our aim this year is to raise well over $2,000 to please support this great cause. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT - ORDERS NOW CLOSED - OVER $4,000 RAISED!!!
